๐๏ธ The Ceuta story needs more context
A conversation with migration correspondent Eric Reidy
Hello everyone,
Episode 11 of The Proximities Podcast is now live.
This week, I spoke to Eric Reidy, Migration & Special Coverage Editor for The New Humanitarian, to dig into what really happened in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa last week.
Proximities usually covers under-reported news and, obviously, this story dominated the agenda when it happened. But I think we can also add value by providing the context that the headline news often misses.
Thatโs what we tried to do in this episode.
We discussed the thorny politics at play between the European Union and North African nations when it comes to migration, not only in Morocco, but in Libya and Tunisia too, where it can be argued the EU is funding appalling abuses.
Our conversation is on Apple Podcasts here, Spotify here and YouTube here.
Please do like, subscribe, comment or rate depending on your platform. It really does help the stories get out there.
All the best,
Barry

Everyone hoping Cueta and migration challenges are going to disappear but not going to happen.
